Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a Learning Mentor to provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils in Wolverhampton community and education settings. You will help pupils overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and improve engagement and attainment.

Experience with SEND/SEMH and supporting disengaged learners is desirable. You will develop positive relationships, encourage participation, and monitor progress with ongoing support throughout the placement.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children or young people in educational, mentoring, youth work, or support settings.
• Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or those disengaged from education is desirable.
• Be patient, empathetic and able to build positive relationships.
• Have excellent communication and behaviour management skills.
• Be confident adapting support to meet individual learning needs.

Learning Mentor

As a Learning Mentor, you will provide tailored 1:1 support to pupils, helping them overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and improve engagement and attainment. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced Learning Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Mentor, or Support Worker who is passionate about supporting young people to achieve their full potential.

Many of the pupils you will work with may have been out of education for some time or require additional support due to SEND, SEMH, or other learning needs. Your role will be to develop positive relationships, encourage participation in learning, and help establish routines that promote educational progress and personal development.

Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor each pupil's progress and provide ongoing support throughout your placement.

Contract/Position Details

• Location - Within the community or educational settings in Wolverhampton
• Position - Learning Mentor
• Type of work - Contract
• Start date - ASAP
• Duration - Until the pupil can successfully reintegrate into a suitable educational placement
• End date (if applicable) - Ongoing
• Contract type - Temporary
• Full-time/Part-time - Part-time (15 hours per week, per student)
• Minimum rate of pay - £22+ per hour
• Hours - Working hours may vary depending on the needs of the pupil and family
