Job summary

Bourn Surgery in Cambourne is seeking a Phlebotomist to join the practice multidisciplinary team. You will perform venepuncture, take vitals, and support the nursing team while ensuring clinic rooms are prepared and stocked.

You will maintain accurate patient records, handle samples, and assist with audits and local service improvements as required. A caring, team-focused approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Venepuncture performed in accordance with practice protocols.
• Maintain accurate clinical notes in patient records.
• Experience with the general public in a healthcare setting.
• Able to follow clinical policy and procedures.
• Strong communication and IT skills; telephone manner and time management.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient consent for blood collection.
• Perform venepuncture per practice protocols.
• Maintain accurate patient records on Systmone/TPP systems.
• Label, package and store samples correctly.
• Maintain specimen log and liaise with laboratory staff.
• Ensure timely delivery of samples to the lab.
• Restock rooms at end of surgery.
• Take routine vitals (height, weight, BP, etc.).
• Support nursing team and participate in audits and local initiatives.
