Job summary

James Kirby associates Ltd in Birmingham is seeking an experienced Centreless Grinder Setter / Operator to join a precision engineering business on the outskirts of Birmingham. The role requires setting and operating centreless grinding equipment to produce components to tight tolerances.

You will work from engineering drawings, perform in-process inspection with micrometers and gauges, and contribute to a busy production schedule.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with centreless grinding machines and setting.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Experience working to close tolerances.
• Strong inspection and measurement skills using micrometers and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate centreless grinding machines.
• Perform through-feed and plunge grinding.
• Produce components to tight tolerances.
• Read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Conduct in-process inspection with micrometers and gauges.
• Make machine, tooling and wheel adjustments as needed.
• Work across small and medium production batches.
• Carry out routine machine checks and basic maintenance.
