Job summary

Arup is a global consultant delivering advisory and technical excellence across more than 150 disciplines. Our Electrical Engineers work on infrastructure projects in the UK and worldwide, focusing on power systems analysis and HV design within a climate-conscious energy transition.

This 10–12 month internship with Power Systems & HV Engineers offers mentorship, exposure to major developments, and a path to grow technical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Are working towards a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Study towards a Masters in Electrical Engineering, General Engineering, Engineering Science, Power Systems Engineering, Energy Engineering, or Communications Engineering would be advantageous.
• Are studying an IET-accredited degree programme, or a course that supports progression towards professional registration
• Demonstrate an interest in power systems engineering and an understanding of topics such as electrical networks, power transmission and distribution, renewable energy, protection and control, or power system modelling gained through academic studies
• Some experience with coding languages would be an advantage
• Possess a strong working knowledge of MS Office
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for a career in electrical engineering, underpinned by a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work
• Have an analytical thought process and ability to innovate and think broadly
• Possess an aptitude to work on their own initiative and be proactive

Responsibilities

• Support power systems analysis and design efforts on multiple projects
• Collaborate with senior engineers across multi-disciplinary teams
• Contribute to offshore wind, energy storage, HVDC and future net-zero infrastructure initiatives
• Develop communication and project-management skills through mentorship and hands-on tasks
