Job summary

Arup in Manchester is offering a Summer Intern position for an Electrical Engineer focused on Power Systems & HV Networks. You will join a team delivering high‑voltage power system analysis, design, and research to support secure, sustainable electricity networks.

The role emphasizes skill development across technical and communication areas. Under the guidance of senior engineers, you will work on diverse projects, including client-facing tasks and internal R&D, enabling growth in engineering

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a 2:1 or higher (or equivalent).
• IET accredited course study is advantageous.
• Understanding of power systems analysis and/or electrical design projects.
• Some coding experience is advantageous.
• Strong working knowledge of MS Office.
• Demonstrate enthusiasm for a career in electrical engineering.
• Analytical thought process and ability to innovate.
• Ability to work on own initiative.

Responsibilities

• Work on power systems analysis and high voltage design under mentorship.
• Contribute to external client-facing and internal R&D projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across projects.
• Develop technical, communication and management skills.
• Support delivery of sustainable and resilient electrical networks.
