Job summary

Sustainable Infrastructure in the United Kingdom seeks a Power Systems Engineer to design and analyse resilient electrical networks for data centres and mission-critical facilities. You will own the technical strategy from concept through delivery, guiding multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.

You will lead power system studies and coordinate with clients and engineers, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively pursuing registration.
• Proven track record in power systems design for data centres or critical infrastructure.
• Experience with power system studies such as load flow and short circuit.
• Hands-on proficiency with ETAP, SKM, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, modelling, and delivery of resilient electrical distribution systems for critical infrastructure.
• Conduct comprehensive power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination).
• Guide projects from master planning to commissioning and delivery.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams and ensure adherence to engineering standards.
• Manage client interfaces and translate requirements into robust solutions.

As a Power Systems Engineer based in the United Kingdom, you will take ownership of sophisticated electrical network design and analysis. Working alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will champion technical excellence across high-profile data centre and mission-critical schemes, guiding clients and stakeholders through every stage of development.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, modelling, and delivery of resilient electrical distribution systems for hyperscale data centres and critical infrastructure projects.
• Conduct comprehensive power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, transient stability, and arc flash assessments.
• Drive project decisions from conceptual master planning through to detailed design and commissioning.
• Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams, fostering technical collaboration and ensuring adherence to exacting engineering standards.
• Manage client relationships and technical interfaces, translating complex operational requirements into robust engineering solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• A degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent discipline (BEng, MEng, or recognised equivalent).
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards professional registration with an accredited institution.
• Proven track record in power systems analysis, design, and project delivery within data centres, critical infrastructure, utilities, or renewable energy environments.
• Deep technical expertise in executing system studies such as short circuit, protection coordination, and load flow analysis.
• Demonstrated hands-on proficiency with industry-standard power systems software, including ETAP, SKM, or DIgSILENT PowerFactory.
• Strong leadership capability with experience steering multidisciplinary design teams and managing key client relationships.

Nice-to-have

• Exposure to high-voltage grid connections and utility interface requirements.
• Familiarity with international electrical standards, regulatory compliance, and resilience benchmarking for mission-critical environments.
• Practical knowledge of integrating renewable power generation or energy storage systems into critical electrical networks.
