Job summary

Kirby Group Engineering is seeking an experienced Group Estimating Manager to lead the Power & Renewables estimating function, drive commercial excellence, and shape major tender solutions. You will influence strategic decisions, mentor a high-performing team, and partner with senior leaders to maintain top-tier technical and commercial standards.

The role demands strong leadership, deep sector knowledge, and a track record of delivering winning bids.

Qualifications

• Significant estimating leadership experience within Power, Renewables, Utilities, Energy Infrastructure, or related sector.
• Strong commercial and technical understanding of large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing estimating teams.
• Experience managing complex tenders from initial enquiry through to final adjudication.
• Excellent stakeholder management with influence at all levels.
• Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.
• Proactive, detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset.
• Comfortable engaging directly with clients, consultants and senior leaders.

Responsibilities

• Leading and managing the estimating function across Power & Renewables projects.
• Driving excellence throughout the tendering and bid management process.
• Managing tender adjudications and supporting key commercial decision-making.
• Coaching, mentoring, and developing a team of estimators, fostering continuous improvement.
• Collaborating with Business Unit Managers, Engineering, Operations and Commercial teams to ensure high-quality submissions.
• Building and maintaining estimating systems, procedures and best practices.
• Developing cost databases, benchmarking data and project performance statistics for future bids.
• Representing Kirby Group Engineering in client meetings and pre-construction engagements.
• Contributing to innovative estimating processes to improve efficiency and competitiveness.
• Ensuring all estimating activities align with governance and information security requirements.
