Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Millom to sort and deliver letters and parcels, building strong relationships with customers. The role involves outdoor work, driving a Royal Mail van, and working on a rotating shift including some weekends.

You will be required to work 27.50 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with a Sunday shift in Barrow in Furness. Full training and uniform are provided, with overtime opportunities and a comprehensive benefits package.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 27.50 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 9am/16:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.
You'll be required to work 12:00-18:00 Sundays at Barrow in Furness Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
