Job summary

Royal Mail in Bishop Auckland is seeking a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a rotating shift, including weekends. You will sort mail at the office and deliver by van or on foot, building relationships with customers on your route.

You'll work outdoors in all weather, stay active, and receive full training, a uniform, and the iconic red van. A full manual UK driving licence with up to 6 penalty points is required, along with passing a driving assessment and the ability to lift 10kg+

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand. You'll be required to work Sundays at Wear Valley Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:
