Job summary

Royal Mail in Walton‑on‑Thames is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 9‑month contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers in the local area.

Working a 30-hour week across 6 days with shifts 08:00–20:00, you’ll join a rotating rota including Sundays, with full training, a uniform, and a red Royal Mail van provided.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.

Responsibilities

• Sort letters and parcels at the delivery office.

Job description

Location: Walton On Thames Delivery Office, KT12 1LN

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 Months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30 hours per week – working 6 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – between 08:00 and 20:00 with every 5th week off.

Shifts Monday - Saturday: Morning shifts delivered between 07:15 to 15:45 and late shifts between 12:00 to 20:00

Shifts Sunday: between 10:00 to 18:00

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
