Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Walton-on-Thames is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract (9 months) at the Walton On Thames Delivery Office KT12 1LN. You will work 30 hours per week across Monday to Saturday, 08:00–20:00, on a rotating schedule including Sundays at Weybridge Delivery Office.

You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, build relationships with customers, and work outdoors in all weather. The role offers rewarding community service and various benefits.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Able to pass a driving assessment for Royal Mail vehicles.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and well organised.
• Able to work outdoors and independently in all weathers.

Location: Walton On Thames Delivery Office, KT12 1LN

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 Months)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30hours per week - working 6 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - between 08:00 and20:00 with every 5th week off.

Shifts Monday - Saturday: Morning shifts delivered between 07:15 to 15:45 and late shifts between 12:00 to 20:00

Shifts Sunday: between 10:00 to 18:00

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
