Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Waltham Cross is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 12-month contract. You will deliver letters and parcels in the local area, work a rotating schedule including weekends, and represent our trusted service with pride.

You will need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit to walk long distances, and work outdoors and independently. Full training and a uniform are provided, with overtime and monthly pay.

Location: Waltham Cross Delivery Office, EN8 7LB

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 month)

Salary: £16.24 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 12:00 hours per week - working Saturday (15:00 to 21:00) and Sunday (10:00 to 16:00) only. More details will be given at the interview.

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work Sundays at rotational delivery offices to be confirmed at the interview.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
