Job summary

Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Wallingford to deliver letters and parcels. The role is a permanent contract with 37 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with a rotating shift including weekends. You will work outdoors, drive a Royal Mail van, and serve the local community.

You will receive full training, a uniform, and a benefits package including pension and wellbeing support. Overtime is paid and shifts may vary by demand.

Location: Wallingford Delivery Office, OX10 9WA

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37 hours per week – working (5) days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30/15:30*

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
