Job summary

Royal Mail is looking for a Postie to join the Tredegar Delivery Office on a fixed term contract for 6 months. The role is 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with shifts 09:00-15:00 or 11:00-18:00. You will deliver letters and parcels, drive a Royal Mail van, work outdoors, and build relationships with customers.

You’ll receive full training, a uniform, and a focus on safe, reliable delivery across your local area. Some weekend work and a rotating schedule apply.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence (max 6 penalty points).
• Willingness to drive Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+.
• Reliable, self-motivated and well-organised.
• Customer-focused with pride in delivering great service.

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00 - 15:00/11:00 - 18:00

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
