Job summary

Royal Mail Group is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Poole. The role runs on a rotating shift schedule, with 30 hours per week across Monday to Saturday and occasional Sundays. You will deliver letters and parcels, work outdoors, and build relationships with customers while representing the trusted Royal Mail service.

Location: Poole Alder Hills Delivery Office, BH12 4AH

Job type: Fixed Termcontract(6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30.00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours:07:00 - 15:31 / 07:00 - 16:16 - Additional varied shifts patterns to be advised in the interview

Sunday hours: 11:00 - 17:00

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
