Royal Mail Group in Ferndown is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 12-month contract. The role is 34 hours per week, with shifts 5 days in 7, including some Sundays, and a starting pay of £13.68 per hour plus overtime.

You will deliver letters and parcels, walk long distances, and work in all weather conditions in Ferndown. The rota may vary with demand and Sundays are to be worked at Christchurch Delivery Office.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence required.
• Ability to pass a driving assessment for Royal Mail vans.
• Physically fit to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and customer-focused in a busy environment.

Working hours: 34.00hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours: 07:05 / 15:35

Sunday hours:09:00 - 16:30

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
