Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Sandown is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a 6-month fixed-term contract. You will work a 30-hour week across Monday to Sunday, earning £13.68 per hour plus overtime, from the Sandown Delivery Office.

You will walk and drive on routes delivering letters and parcels, meeting customers and representing Royal Mail in all weather conditions. Training is provided and shifts vary with demand.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 10:00/20:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
