Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Brecon is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels in the local area. The role involves a 30-hour week on a 9-day fortnight, across Monday to Saturday, with weekend work on a rotating schedule and some Sundays during peak periods.

Full training and a uniform are provided. A full manual UK driving licence is required, and you must be comfortable working outdoors, physically active, and delivering items in all weather conditions.

Location: Brecon Delivery Office, LD3 8NU

Job type: Fixed Term contract, 6 Months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30 hours per week - working a 9 day fortnight, across Monday to Saturday - 08:30/16:30*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

Due to operational demand, you may be required to work occasional Sundays throughout peak periods.

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
