Royal Mail in Macclesfield is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed term contract for 9 months. You’ll work 30 hours per week, with a 9-in-14 rota from 09:00 to 15:00, delivering letters and parcels by van and on foot while staying connected with the local community.

You’ll be outdoors in all weathers, building relationships with customers and handling a busy, time-pressured schedule. Training provided.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time‑pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self‑motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer‑focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
