Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to join the Louth Delivery Office on a fixed term contract of 12 months. You will join a team that delivers letters and parcels in Louth while working a 37-hour week with weekend shifts, including Sundays.

You’ll sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and build relationships with customers, working outdoors in all weathers. Training and a reliable, active approach are essential.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points) is required.
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances and lift 10 kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable, self-motivated and able to work independently in a busy environment.
• Strong organisational skills and a focus on delivering great service.

Location: Louth Delivery Office, LN11 9ND

Job type: Fixed Term contract 12 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:45/16:13*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Louth Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
