Job summary

Royal Mail in Lincoln is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels around Lincoln, on a rotating shift schedule that includes weekends. The role is 30 hours per week with early and late shifts between 06:00 and 16:00 and Sundays 09:00 to 15:00.

You will sort mail, drive a Royal Mail van, and interact with customers while working outdoors in all weather. Training is provided, and you join a trusted postal network known for reliability.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated

Location: Lincoln Delivery Office, LN5 7NU

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Saturday days between 06:00 and 16:00 and lates between 1pm and 8pm, Sunday 09:00 to 15:00

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays at Lincoln Delivery Office.

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
