Royal Mail in Barton-upon-Humber is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term 6-month contract. The role covers 30 hours per week across Monday to Sunday, with a rotating shift pattern and a Royal Mail van daily.

You will deliver letters and parcels, walk long distances, work in all weather, and build relationships with customers while representing a trusted postal service.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points) is required.

Location: Barton Upon Humber Delivery Office, DN18 5RP

Job type: Fixed Term contract 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday, Monday to Saturday between 08:00 and 16:00, Sunday between 08:00 and 15:00

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You may be required to work Sundays at Barton Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
