Job summary

Royal Mail in Leeds is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels on a 35-hour week, with a rotating shift including weekends. You'll work across Holbeck and Sheepscar routes, with training provided and a uniform supplied.

You’ll need a full manual UK driving licence, be physically fit to walk long distances, and enjoy working outdoors while building relationships with customers in the community. The role is fixed-term for six months with overtime opportunities.

Location: Holbeck Delivery Office, LS11 9ND

Job type: Fixed Term contract (6 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 35:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:30/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Sheepscar Delivery Office.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)

• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
