Job summary

Royal Mail in Ashton Under Lyne is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) to deliver letters and parcels in the Oldham area. The role is a fixed-term contract (12 months) with 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, including weekends, on a rotating shift.

You will sort mail at the office, drive a Royal Mail van, walk long distances, and engage with customers outdoors in all weather. A full UK driving licence and fitness for the job are required; training is provided.

Qualifications

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently

Job type: Fixed Term contract (12 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 30:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 08:00/21:00*
