Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Coleford is recruiting a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a 9-month fixed-term contract. You will sort letters and parcels, deliver by van and on foot, and engage with customers on your delivery route. The role involves outdoor work, a rotating schedule including weekends, and a driving assessment after training.

Full manual UK driving licence required (max 6 points). Overtime is paid. 30 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with some Sundays at Lydney Delivery Office.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 07:00/16:30*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You'll be required to work one in four Sundays at Lydney Delivery Office working between 11:00/17:30

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
