Job summary

Royal Mail Group in Kendal is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) on a fixed-term contract for 9 months. The role involves sorting and delivering letters and parcels, with a 30-hour week across 5 days in 7 and Sunday shifts at Kendal Delivery Office.

You will walk long distances, drive a Royal Mail van, and work outdoors in any weather. Full training and a branded van are provided; driving assessment will be required.

Qualifications

• Full manual UK driving licence (max 6 penalty points, registered to current name and address).
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and pass a driving assessment.
• Physically fit and able to walk long distances, climb stairs/hills, and lift/carry 10kg+ mailbags.
• Reliable and self-motivated.

Location: Kendal Delivery Office, LA9 4AA

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30.00 hours per week - working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday. Shifts may be 9am-4pm, 11:30am-5pm, 12pm-7pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Kendal Delivery Office.

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:
