Royal Mail is hiring a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Bury. The role involves delivering letters and parcels from the Bury Delivery Office, with a permanent contract and 30 hours per week across five days in seven on a rotating schedule.

Shifts include some weekends, with Sundays on a rota basis and specific 10:00-16:00 hours when scheduled. You’ll need a full UK driving licence, pass a driving assessment, and enjoy outdoor, active work.

Job type: Permanent contract

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 30:00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 09:00/15:00*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
