Royal Mail Group in Harrogate is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) for a fixed-term 9‑month contract. You will sort mail, deliver by van and on foot, and engage with customers on your route. The role is outdoors, with shifts including weekends and a 30-hour week.

You will need a full UK driving licence, be physically fit, reliable and self‑motivated, with strong organisational skills and a customer‑focused mindset. Training and a uniform are provided.

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available. Working hours: 30:00 hours per week - working 5days in 7 across Monday - Sunday - 09:00/19:00*

You'll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We'll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You'll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
