Job summary

Royal Mail is seeking a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) at Kingswood Delivery Office to deliver letters and parcels across Bristol area. The role is a fixed-term 6-month contract, 37 hours per week, with a rotating shift including weekends, and paid monthly with overtime available.

You'll sort mail at the office, drive a Royal Mail van and deliver in your local area, building relationships with customers while working outdoors in all weather. Full UK manual driving licence required.

Location: Kingswood Delivery Office, BS15 8PN

Job type: Fixed Term contract for 6 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:00am to 15:00pm* or 12:00pm to 19:00pm*

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work around 1 in 8 Sundays at Fishpond Delivery Office Delivery Office (BS16 3ZZ).

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions

• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
