Join Royal Mail as a Postie (Postal Delivery Driver) in Burnham-On-Sea to deliver letters and parcels in the local area. The role involves 37 hours per week across 5 days in 7, with some weekends and rotating shifts. You will receive full training, a uniform, and work in an outdoor environment.

Salary is £13.68 per hour with paid overtime and a 9-month fixed-term contract. You’ll be driving a Royal Mail van and walking long distances, with emphasis on reliability, independence and customer focus.

Location: Burnham On Sea Delivery Office, TA8 1ER

Job type: Fixed Term, contract, 9 months

Salary: £13.68 per hour* (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.

Working hours: 37:00 hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday – 07:10/17:45*

Supporting two separate shifts, either 07:10 - 16:00 Letter Deliveries or 09:30 - 17:45 Parcel Deliveries.

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work one in six Sundays at Bridgewater Delivery Office, TA6 3XX.

What To Expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily

About You

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
