Job summary

Royal Mail in Warminster is recruiting a Postie to deliver letters and parcels on a 37-hour week. The fixed-term role runs for 9 months, with overtime paid and a rotating shift schedule across 5 days in 7.

You will walk and drive on your routes, meet customers, and work outdoors in all weather. Training is provided, and a uniform plus red van are supplied.

Qualifications

Location: Warminster Delivery Office, BA12 9AX

Job type: Fixed Term contract (9 months)

Salary: £13.68 per hour (paid monthly) + paid overtime available.
Working hours: 37.00hours per week – working 5 days in 7 across Monday - Sunday

Monday - Saturday hours: 08:00 - 16:00

Sunday hours: 12:30 - 18:30

You’ll work on a rotating shift schedule, including some weekends. Your rota will confirm your hours and delivery routes, which may vary based on demand.

You’ll be required to work Sundays at Trowbridge Delivery Office.

What to expect

This role is physically demanding and fast-paced:

• Walking long distances (up to 12 miles / 20,000+ steps)
• Driving a Royal Mail van daily
• Working in all weather conditions
• Delivering letters and high volumes of parcels
• Busy, time-pressured days, especially during peak periods

About you

We’ll provide full training, a uniform, and an iconic red van. You’ll need:

• A full manual UK driving licence (maximum 6 penalty points, registered to your current name and address)
• Willingness to drive a Royal Mail van daily and able to pass a driving assessment
• Physically fit and comfortable walking long distances, climbing stairs / hills, and lifting / carrying 10kg+ mailbags
• Reliable and self-motivated
• Strong organisation and resilience in a busy environment
• Customer-focused, with pride in delivering great service
• Comfortable working outdoors and independently
