Job summary

Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Maintenance Craftsperson to care for building fabric and building services across its estate. The role emphasizes plumbing with broad building skills and requires hands-on work with safety at the forefront.

The successful candidate will work under the Estates Department, carry out planned and reactive maintenance, and contribute to regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• General building work experience.
• Plumbing skills are central to the role.
• Ability to diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Familiar with hand and power tools and test equipment.
• Awareness and practice of risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair and maintain building fabric and services to standards.
• Diagnose faults in mechanical, electrical, electronic and plumbing systems.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and complete worksheets.
• Perform a wide range of craftsperson tasks with tools and equipment.
• Liaise with management, clinical staff and contractors; input data into computer systems.
• Report plant failures and regulatory deviations; request repairs as needed.
• Participate in out-of-hours on-call rota for emergencies.
• Repair ward and office equipment; carry out general cleaning and painting as required.
