Job summary

CHoICE Facilities Services in Sunderland requires a Maintenance Craftsperson (Plumbing) to maintain, repair and install plumbing and mechanical plant across NHS Trust sites. You will act as Competent Person under HTM 00 and support health, safety and compliance across large water systems.

The role involves shift work, on-call duties, and overtime when service needs demand it, with opportunities to contribute to service improvements and best practices within a collaborative estates team.

Qualifications

• Qualified plumbing discipline with Level 3 engineering plumbing credentials.
• Recognised apprenticeship completed in a relevant engineering field.
• Basic numeracy and literacy to Level 1 or equivalent.
• Basic IT skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, repair and install plumbing and mechanical plant across CHoICE-maintained buildings.
• Act as Competent Person under HTM 00 for multiple engineering services.
• Support CHoICE in statutory, mandatory and best practice commitments to its partners.
• Operate and maintain large-scale hot and cold water systems and associated plant.
• Plan and organise engineering staff workloads using own initiative.
• Support craft and maintenance staff through problem-solving scenarios.
• Allocate and oversee planned and reactive tasks with regard to KPIs.
• Develop localised systems and procedures to ensure health and safety and compliance.
• Participate in plumber shift pattern and on-call rota with overtime when required.
