Marks & Spencer plc is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Platform team responsible for the web platform powering 200+ engineers and 30+ applications, covering customer-facing and colleague-facing experiences. You will guide the technical vision, build reusable pipelines, tooling, plugins and frameworks, and contribute code.

You will drive engineering excellence, promote DevOps, and align with the wider technology strategy while mentoring senior engineers and shaping recruitment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on senior software engineer with multi-year experience.
• Strong knowledge of modern web tech and architectures.
• Experience building and leading teams delivering high-quality software.
• Understanding of system design, cloud, and devops practices.

Responsibilities

• Own engineering excellence across teams, from direction to production.
• Lead recruitment, talent management and line management of staff.
• Align with technical strategy and collaborate with wider Technology org.
• Act as platform owner, enabling digital products through data and customer centricity.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to maintain strategic alignment.
• Care for OKRs within your hub.
