Job summary

The London-based Engineering Manager - Communications Platform at Ebury will lead a team building high-throughput, multi-channel communication services across Email, SMS, and more. You will shape architecture, scale platform services, and ensure operational health in production environments.

You'll drive technical leadership, partner with product/design, and champion responsible AI adoption while maintaining delivery excellence in a fast-moving fintech context.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Engineering Manager or similar leadership role.
• Experience in fintech or financial services.
• Experience in multi-channel, multi-product environments.
• Deep understanding of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Experience with agile development processes.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem solving and decision making abilities.
• Passion for technology and innovation.
• Experience building integrations with email, SMS and other channels.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Contributions to open-source or personal portfolio suitable.
• Experience with Domain-Driven Design (DDD) and standardized communication patterns.

Responsibilities

• Grow the Team: coach engineers with actionable feedback and clear growth paths.
• Delivery Ownership: translate outcomes into roadmaps and deliver reliably.
• Technical Leadership: guide architecture and reviews for high-scale systems on AWS and BigQuery.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: collaborate with Product, Design and Business domains.
• Operational Health: ensure production stability, on-call quality, testing standards, CI/CD, observability.
• Responsible AI Adoption: integrate AI tools safely while owning shipped code.
