Job summary

SER Limited in St Helens is seeking a dedicated Hire Controller to join our plant hire operations. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, accurately managing hires and returns, and coordinating with internal teams to meet customer requirements.

You will work a 40-hour week with a competitive package including £32,000–£34,000 basic, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension scheme and life insurance, plus additional benefits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within plant hire or construction.
• Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in administrative tasks and attention to detail.
• A proactive and customer-focused approach to problem-solving.
• Competence in using computer systems and software for record-keeping and communication.

Responsibilities

• Answering and managing customer inquiries via phone and email.
• Processing hire requests, including scheduling equipment deliveries and collections.
• Updating and maintaining accurate records of hires and returns.
• Liaising with the operations team to ensure equipment availability and timely delivery.
• Resolving customer issues or concerns promptly and professionally.
• Supporting the team with general administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations.
