Job summary

Gi Group UK is seeking an experienced Plant Hire Controller to join an established plant and tool hire business in Farnborough. The role covers both sites, with travel between locations and a permanent, full-time contract.

Salary is £35,000 per annum, with Monday–Friday hours from 7:00am to 5:00pm (45 hours/week). You will manage hire orders, coordinate deliveries, and support operations across two nearby sites, contributing to customer service excellence and KPI delivery.

Responsibilities

• Communicating with customers face-to-face, by telephone and email.
• Taking and processing plant and tool hire orders and sales.
• Developing knowledge of new products and services.
• Maintaining stock levels and sales goods.
• Supporting equipment deliveries during busy periods.
• Preparing daily work schedules for drivers.
• Coordinating and managing driver performance.
• Managing driver holiday schedules and timekeeping.
• Ensuring vehicles attend scheduled servicing and MOT appointments.
• Maintaining and improving operational KPIs.
• Supporting promotional and customer events.
• Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised working environment.
• Ensuring all operational activities are carried out with full regard to health and safety.
• Working in accordance with relevant legal, environmental and company policies.
• Identifying and resolving operational issues efficiently.
• Working closely with colleagues to ensure customer expectations are consistently exceeded.

PLANT HIRE CONTROLLER

Location: Farnborough / surrounding areas

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00am-5:00pm (45 hours per week)

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Hire Controller to join an established plant and tool hire business.

This is a varied role working across two nearby operational sites, so the successful candidate will ideally be based in or around Farnborough and comfortable travelling between both locations.

The role combines customer service, hire desk administration, transport coordination and day-to-day operational support, making this an excellent opportunity for someone with experience within plant hire, tool hire, logistics, transport or a similar environment.

About You

• Previous experience within plant hire, tool hire, logistics, transport or a similar industry
• Experience of coordinating or planning transport/logistics
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Strong organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload
• Good IT skills and confidence using computer systems
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracyA practical and analytical approach to problem solving
• A proactive approach and willingness to learn about new products
• The ability to work well as part of a team while also using your own initiative
• A strong understanding of customer service and the importance of exceeding expectations
• The ability and willingness to work across two nearby sites
