Job summary

Owen Daniels seeks a Planning Manager in Derby to lead both Planning and Purchasing functions, owning customer demand and coordinating production scheduling with capacity planning. You will manage supplier performance and drive continuous improvement across the supply chain.

The role requires proven leadership in precision manufacturing, strong knowledge of SIOP and ERP/MRP, and experience translating demand into actionable plans. This is a permanent, ASAP-start position.

Responsibilities

• Lead Planning and Purchasing teams, align demand with production and material plans.
• Oversee production planning, translate demand into schedules with capacity planning and SIOP.
• Manage sales orderbook, monitor demand changes, produce KPIs with manufacturing for delivery targets.
• Drive supplier performance, optimize purchasing processes, and use ERP to enhance planning and supply chain performance.
• Coach the supply chain team and embed lean processes.

Job Description:

• Leading the Planning and Purchasing teams, managing customer demand through the SIOP process to ensure production, capacity and material plans are aligned with business requirements.
• Managing the production planning process, ensuring customer demand is translated into achievable production schedules through effective capacity planning and SIOP.
• Managing the sales orderbook, monitoring customer demand changes, producing KPI reports, and working closely with manufacturing to ensure delivery performance and operational targets are achieved.
• Driving supplier performance, managing key supplier relationships, implementing cost reduction initiatives, improving purchasing processes and using ERP systems to optimise planning, scheduling, inventory and supply chain performance.
• Coaching and developing the supply chain team, embedding lean processes, improving KPI performance, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and supply chain best practice.

Essential Experience/Skills/Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a Supply Chain Manager, Planning Manager, Demand Planning Manager or similar leadership position within precision manufacturing
• Strong understanding of both production planning/SIOP and purchasing
• Experienced using ERP/MRP systems
