Job summary

Owen Daniels is seeking a Planning Manager in Derby to lead both Planning and Purchasing functions, taking ownership of customer demand and driving continuous improvement across the supply chain.

The role requires proven experience in planning leadership, strong knowledge of SIOP and ERP/MRP systems, and a track record of supplier management and team coaching. Permanent, ASAP start, based in Derby.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a leadership role within supply chain, planning or similar.
• Strong understanding of production planning/SIOP and purchasing.
• Experienced using ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong supplier communication experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Planning and Purchasing teams, aligning demand, production, and material plans with business requirements.
• Translate customer demand into feasible production schedules via capacity planning and SIOP.
• Manage the sales orderbook and KPI reporting to ensure on-time delivery and targets are met.
• Drive supplier performance, manage relationships, and optimise planning, scheduling, inventory and supply chain performance using ERP systems.
• Coach and develop the supply chain team, embed lean processes, and ensure compliance with procedures.

Job Description:

• Leading the Planning and Purchasing teams, managing customer demand through the SIOP process to ensure production, capacity and material plans are aligned with business requirements.
• Managing the production planning process, ensuring customer demand is translated into achievable production schedules through effective capacity planning and SIOP.
• Managing the sales orderbook, monitoring customer demand changes, producing KPI reports, and working closely with manufacturing to ensure delivery performance and operational targets are achieved.
• Driving supplier performance, managing key supplier relationships, implementing cost reduction initiatives, improving purchasing processes and using ERP systems to optimise planning, scheduling, inventory and supply chain performance.
• Coaching and developing the supply chain team, embedding lean processes, improving KPI performance, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and supply chain best practice.

• Proven experience in a Supply Chain Manager, Planning Manager, Demand Planning Manager or similar leadership position within precision manufacturing
