What are we looking for in our Planning and Operations Manager?

Planning and Operations Manager – Higher Education - £230 per day inside IR35 PAYE – 6 month contract

Main purpose of the job

  • To lead on HR, finance, team development and planning and reporting for the Research Culture Team.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Produce regular budget updates and manage in-year expenditure to ensure that annual financial targets are met.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of seed-funding schemes and subsequent funding allocation.
  • Manage the recruitment and onboarding of new staff.
  • Monitor the timely completion of staff appraisal and probation activities.
  • Advise Research Culture staff on Finance and HR issues and procedures in order to ensure compliance with policies, liaising with colleagues in central HR and Finance teams as required.
  • Lead planning and reporting against institutional and external commitments related to Research Culture.
  • Support the Director of Research Culture in delivering ad-hoc projects as required.
  • Represent Research Culture at internal and external committees as required by the Director of Research Culture.
  • Act as secretary to the Research Culture Programme Board and oversight of administrative support for Community Steering Group. Ensure good connections between the two groups and with RIGE Committee.
  • Manage space and equipment needs of the Research Culture team.
  • Coordinate team training, including proactively identifying and coordinating attendance at conferences and external events.
  • Oversee coordination of team meetings and team development (the latter in partnership with the Director of Research Culture).
  • Line management responsibility for a Project Support Officer.
