Job summary

REESON Education is seeking a Learning Support Assistant for a Barnet primary school in NW9, working with children with SEND. The role focuses on early phonics, literacy and communication, with 1:1 and small-group support in a mainstream EYFS setting.

Ideal candidates are patient, nurturing and proactive, with experience supporting ASD. You will collaborate with the EYFS Lead to maintain a structured, supportive classroom and help children build confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ASD in EYFS or SEND settings.
• Knowledge of early phonics, phonemic awareness and early reading development.
• Ability to support 1:1 and small group learning.
• Patient, nurturing, proactive and resilient demeanor.
• Team player able to follow guidance from senior staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and general support for early phonics and literacy.
• Support phonics activities and interventions planned by the EYFS Lead.
• Help children develop phonemic awareness, listening skills, and early blending.
• Encourage communication and language development with visual supports.
• Collaborate with EYFS Lead and other LSAs for a structured learning environment.
• Support transitions, sensory needs and daily routines as required.
• Foster confidence and engagement through positive, nurturing support.
