Job summary

Practice Plus Group is recruiting a Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team at HMP Winchester, a Category B local remand prison in central Winchester.

You will work in a 13-strong Pharmacy team, across the wings, delivering vaccination services and spot checks as part of a varied role.

The role offers 37.5 hours across 4 days (7.30am–5.30pm) with every other weekend and ad-hoc bank holidays, and a salary up to £45,101 per annum depending on experience. Onsite parking is available.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with Pharmacy background.
• Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
• Up-to-date CPD and development mindset.
• Post-qualification pharmacy experience, preferably in secure settings.
• GCSE or equivalent education; able to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centred care to prisoners.
• Ensure safe medicines management and accurate medical records.
• Adhere to SOPs and support cost-effective prescribing.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy Technician to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Winchester, a category B Prison located in central Winchester.

HMP Winchester is a Category B Local remand prison located in Central Winchester accommodating approximately 670 male prisoners.

Working within a team of 13 in Pharmacy, who have introduced vaccinations, spot checks, so a very varied role. You will be working in Pharmacy and working across the wings.

Although the site is close to Winchester city centre there is onsite parking for all staff and it is a short walk from Winchester train station.

Hours

37.5 hours per week, working across 4 days, 7.30am-5.30pm, and every other weekend, including ad-hoc bank holidays.

Salary

This position is full time, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £45,101 per annum - depending on experience.

What you'll be doing

As a Pharmacy Technician, your responsibilities will vary. You will

• Provide outstanding quality based patient centred care to our patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
• Focussing on providing a safe and secure medicines management service, ensuring patient medical records are maintained to the agreed standard at all times and ensuring standard operating procedures are followed to a high and orderly standard.
• Deliver non-judgemental care within the scope of professional standards. Involving anything from the timely administration of medicines through to analysing cost effective prescribing as defined through our unique health in justice medicines policy.
• You will make a real difference by working as a key member of a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
