Job summary

SJB Medical is seeking a Functional Assessor to join our UK centres in Southampton. You will apply clinical judgement to carry out functional assessments supporting applicants for health-related benefits, with standard hours, no night shifts, and no weekend work.

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will produce clear reports, maintain records, and engage in ongoing CPD and supervision. You must be a registered healthcare professional with at least 12 months post-registration experience and

• Have at least 12 months' post-registration experience within the last 5 years.
• Have no current restrictions to practice.
• Demonstrate strong communication, assessment, and report-writing skills.

• Conduct functional assessments and produce clear, accurate, high‑quality reports.
• Use clinical judgement to assess a wide range of physical and mental health conditions.

Salary: £40,000 - £50,000

Location: Southampton

Additional pay & bonuses:

• Guaranteed £2,000 salary uplift within your first year (subject to approval milestones and contract)
• One-off approval bonus of 5% of salary
• Up to 10% annual performance bonus based on quality and performance

Working pattern:

Full-time, Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
Part-time hours available

About the role

As a Functional Assessor, you'll use your clinical expertise in a new and rewarding way, carrying out functional assessments that support individuals applying for health-related benefits. This role allows you to apply your clinical judgement while enjoying regular working hours, no night shifts, and no weekend work.
