Job summary

Anglian Water Group Ltd. in Cambridge is seeking a Permit Control Officer to oversee the permit-to-work lifecycle for high-hazard activities at our Water Recycling Centres.

You will manage permits, validate risk assessments, and lead daily permit meetings with site teams and contractors to maintain safety and compliance. The role requires PTW experience, strong health & safety knowledge, and IOSH-level qualifications.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience working within a Permit To Work system and on operational or high-hazard sites.
• Strong understanding of health & safety and process safety regulations.
• Proven ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the confidence to challenge and drive improvement.
• A passion for teamwork, continuous learning, and delivering high-quality results.
• IOSH level qualification is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue, and close permits for site activities, ensuring robust risk assessment and compliance.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections, and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
• Collaborate with operational teams and stakeholders to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
• Support with Industrial Emissions Directive, Water Recycling Centre and Sludge Treatment Centre permit compliance.
