Job summary

Anglian Water Group Ltd. Basildon is seeking a Permit Control Officer to oversee the permit-to-work lifecycle for high‑risk activities across our Water Recycling Bioresources sites.

You will partner with site teams and contractors to ensure work is authorised, coordinated, and carried out to the highest health and safety standards. You will lead daily permit meetings, review risk assessments, monitor compliance and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience with Permit To Work systems on operational/high-hazard sites.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety regulations and process safety.
• Ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to challenge and drive improvement.

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue, and close permits for site activities, ensuring robust risk assessment and compliance.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections, and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
• Collaborate with operational teams to drive efficiency and continuous improvement.
