Job summary

awg in Cambridge is seeking a Permit Control Officer to manage the permit-to-work process for high-risk activities within our Water Recycling Bioresources Treatment Team. You will drive daily permit meetings, validate risk assessments, and ensure safe, compliant operations across our largest sites.

This role requires IOSH or higher health & safety qualifications, strong risk assessment ability, and excellent communication to coordinate with site teams and contractors.

Qualifications

• Experience working within a Permit To Work system on operational or high-hazard sites.
• Strong understanding of health & safety and process safety regulations.
• Proven ability to assess risks and make sound operational decisions.

Responsibilities

• Manage, issue, and close permits for site activities with robust risk assessment and compliance.
• Host daily permit meetings to coordinate tasks and prevent conflicts (SIMOPs).
• Conduct site inductions, inspections, and audits to uphold safety standards.
• Oversee mechanical and electrical isolations (LOTO) and site access controls.
• Support incident management and communicate lessons learned.
