Job summary

James Cropper is seeking a dedicated People Advisor in Kendal to provide HR support to line leaders across the group, ensuring best practices in employee relations, performance management and engagement.

The role requires CIPD Level 5 or equivalent, strong employment law knowledge, ER case management experience and robust HRIS/data governance. You will contribute to HR systems, processes and governance while delivering insights to guide decisions.

Qualifications

• CIPD Level 5 or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
• Experience managing employee relations cases and ER portfolios.
• Experience in HR/People Operations with focus on data, policies or compliance.
• Strong HRIS experience and data accuracy focus.
• Ability to produce and interpret people data, reports and MI.
• Experience developing and implementing HR policies and processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and governance of records.

Responsibilities

• Provide HR support to line leaders across the group on policies, processes and procedures.
• Offer impartial, best-practice guidance for ER cases (discipline, grievance, absence, performance).
• Maintain accurate, GDPR-compliant people data and records.
• Support HR systems, processes and workflows to improve efficiency and data quality.
• Produce and analyse people data; deliver insights for business decisions.
• Review and maintain people policies to align with legislation and best practice.
• Support HR governance, audits, and record-keeping obligations.
• Guide managers on consistent application of HR policies and processes.
• Ensure data integrity across HR systems and collaborate with stakeholders.
• Assist with HR technology implementation and continuous improvement of processes.
• Lead and support HR operations projects aligned to People strategy.
