Notting Hill Prep School and Bassett House Prep School are seeking an experienced HR Advisor / People Advisor to work across both sites, located a short walk from each other in Ladbroke Grove / Notting Hill. Prior experience in the education sector is not required; training on KCSIE and related regulations will be provided.

Candidates should be enthusiastic self-starters with a professional outlook and possess the following skills and experience:

  1. Experience with the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, offboarding, and managing new starter and leaver procedures.
  2. Support for employee wellbeing, including assisting colleagues on long-term sickness absence or requiring reasonable adjustments due to health conditions or disabilities.
  3. Strong experience in maintaining HR administration systems, including HR databases, with high attention to detail and accountability for quality work.
  4. Knowledge of employment law and its application in the workplace.
  5. Ability to build strong relationships at all organisational levels.
  6. Experience managing grievance, disciplinary, performance, and attendance cases, including advising managers and issuing relevant documentation.
  7. CIPD Level 5 qualification is desirable.

The role involves:

  1. Implementing wellbeing and engagement initiatives for both schools.
  2. Managing recruitment processes and checks, including adhering to safer recruitment guidelines for schools.
  3. Handling employee relations, including disciplinaries, grievances, attendance, performance issues, and long-term sickness cases.
  4. Managing HR administration, including updating the HRIS and maintaining the Single Central Record.
  5. Overseeing all elements of the employee lifecycle, such as onboarding, leavers, promotions, job descriptions, and contracts.
  6. Developing and maintaining HR policies, and providing advice, training, and guidance to managers.
  7. This role is based onsite five days per week during term time, with potential flexibility during school holidays, as agreed with the Headteacher.
