Job description

Are you a confident and passionate People Advisor who loves making a real difference to employees and the wider business? Do you enjoy coaching managers, finding solutions and creating a positive workplace culture? Our client is a highly successful and rapidly growing organisation with a fantastic reputation for its people-first approach. With a collaborative, supportive culture and a genuine commitment to employee wellbeing and development, this is an exciting opportunity to join a business where people really do matter. Due to continued growth, they are creating a brand-new People Advisor position, joining a small and friendly People team in January 2027. Working closely with the People Manager, you'll play a key role in supporting and developing line managers, confidently managing employee relations matters and helping to shape the employee experience. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced People Advisor who enjoys taking ownership, has plenty of ideas and wants the opportunity to make a genuine impact whilst continuing to develop their own career.

People Advisor – Benefits Offered
  • Salary £35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, increasing with service
  • Private healthcare scheme with employer contribution
  • Pension scheme
  • Supportive, collaborative and people-focused working environment
  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week. Initially office-based in Hatfield (potential for hybrid working following probation).
People Advisor – Job Overview
  • Acting as the first point of contact for line managers, providing practical HR advice and guidance on day-to-day employee relations matters
  • Independently managing employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, absence, performance, conduct and capability, escalating more complex matters where appropriate
  • Coaching, training and empowering managers to confidently handle people-related challenges and develop their management skills
  • Working closely with the People Manager to ensure HR policies, procedures and practices are applied fairly and consistently
  • Supporting recruitment activities, from working with hiring managers through to selection, onboarding and delivering a positive candidate experience
  • Helping to strengthen the company's employer brand, promoting the business as a fantastic place to work
  • Getting involved in exciting People projects, including the new HR system, wellbeing initiatives and employee volunteering opportunities
  • Supporting employee engagement, learning and development initiatives to continually improve the employee experience
  • Identifying opportunities to improve HR processes, systems and ways of working
People Advisor – Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a generalist HR Advisor, People Advisor or similar position
  • Confident managing employee relations cases independently, including disciplinary processes
  • Experience advising, coaching and supporting line managers on people-related matters
  • Good working knowledge of UK employment legislation and HR best practice
  • Experience supporting recruitment and employee lifecycle activities
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification desirable, although relevant practical experience is equally valued
  • A proactive, self-sufficient and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence and constructively challenge when needed
  • A genuine passion for people, employee wellbeing and creating a positive workplace culture
  • Resilience, patience and sound judgement when handling sensitive or challenging situations
  • A desire to continue learning, developing and contributing new ideas

This opportunity would suit a People Advisor who is already confident handling the operational side of HR but is looking for more variety, responsibility and involvement in wider People initiatives.

You'll be joining a successful, growing business where your contribution will be visible and valued. Rather than simply maintaining existing processes, you'll have the opportunity to help shape how managers are supported, employees are developed and the People function continues to evolve.
