Royal Mail is seeking a Pensions Administrator in Sheffield to join our Pensions Service Centre. You will calculate and process pension benefits, and respond to member queries with clear guidance, while delivering work to standards and collaborating with colleagues across service areas.

We value accuracy, problem-solving and great customer service. A level/GCSE qualifications and pensions knowledge are desirable, with a strong focus on development and professional growth.

Pensions Administrator
Salary from £25,758 to £32,000 (subject to experience and relevant qualifications)
25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, and a company pension scheme with highly competitive employer contribution rates
Contract: Full time, Permanent
Location: Royal Mail, Pond Street, Sheffield S98 6HR - hybrid working with 4 days in the office.

Looking for a career where accuracy, problem-solving and great customer service genuinely matter? Join our Pensions Service Centre in Sheffield as a Pensions Administrator and play an important role in delivering a high-quality service to members of the Royal Mail Pension Plan.


You’ll combine pensions administration with customer service, using your numerical and analytical skills to calculate and process benefits, resolve queries and make sure members receive clear, accurate information. Just as importantly, you’ll have the opportunity to broaden your experience across the Pensions Service Centre and build a specialist career in pensions.

  • Calculate and process pension benefits accurately in line with pension scheme rules and overriding legislation.
  • Answer member queries (via our Helpline) explain pension entitlements clearly and professionally.
  • Deliver work to agreed service, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Work collaboratively across service areas and support changing business needs.
  • Spot opportunities to improve how we work and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Build your technical knowledge and take ownership of your development.
About You
What we’re looking for
  • Strong Maths, Numeracy, and Analytical skills.
  • Advanced experience in Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • A professional approach to customer service.
  • Strong organisation and the ability to work to demanding deadlines.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • A flexible, collaborative mindset and willingness to learn.
  • Experience as a pension’s practitioner with a broad understanding of DB and /or DC pensions – desirable
  • Educated to at least A level standard with strong English Language and Mathematics at GCSE level (grades C to A*) - desirable.
  • Possess a professional pensions qualification (e.g., Pensions Management Institute APE, CPA or DPA) - desirable.
